Winnie's Flower Design School founder Winnie Ng is passionate about floral art, its education and development in Hong Kong. Since 1999, Winnie and the school has been teaching students European and Japanese floral art techniques and flower business management. Many of her professional students had become top florists and flower shop managers and owners. The School has taken a good balance on practicality and art, helping both professional and interest students achieve their goals. In addition to teaching, Winnie and the staff also participate in various Hong Kong floral art events and exhibitions, provide floral business consultancy service, support alumnis and offer floral products and venue decoration services.
Winnie's started her career as a graphics designer and media editor. In 1988, she met the former chairman of the World Flower Council (Hong Hong Chapter), became an apprentice of the Japanese Sogetsu floral art, and formally started her florist career. In the next 10 years, Winnie accumulated work experience in florists and decoration companies, was promoted to senior roles, has won awards from major local competitions, and was invited to floral exhibitions. In 1997 and 1998 Winnie studied in Holland, and attained Floral Instructor status after graduating from the Floral Instructor programme at Stoas University. After a brief internship, Winnie returned to Hong Kong, worked as floral instructor, floral consultant and floral product designer for a few companies, before founding the Winnie Floral Design School in 2001. In 2002, Winnie served as lecturer and syllabus writer for the Hong Kong Productivity Council course "Flower Shop Operations". Winnie was also lecturer for the SME Council, Hong Kong Commercial Radio continuing education program, Guangzhou Floral Arts Research Center, etc. Winnie currently still hosts floral art technique, floral store operation, venue decoration, wedding flowers, junior flower arrangement and other classes.
